Theme: Enlightened Self-Interest
To sustain their positions, powerful individuals and governments should invest in the welfare of the less fortunate, and in the environmental sustainability of the development process. That way leaders can follow their interests while creating a more prosperous and equitable world for all. During the second day of the Symposium, we will focus more deeply on this idea, learning how successful global leaders practice «enlightened self-interest.»

Objective. Learn from path-breaking institutions that fundamentally shape the Global Sustainability Agenda.

Theme: Walk the Talk
Charles O. HIlliday, Stephan Schmidheiny and Philip Watts published a book titled, «Walking the talk,» which shows how «markets must be mobilized in favor of sustainability, leveraging the power of innovation and global markets for the benefit of everyone.» During the last day of the Symposium, we will follow their advice and discuss how everyone—businesses, nonprofits, government leaders, students and university staff—can help push the Global Sustainability Agenda forward.

On February 7, different institutions with outstanding initiatives discuss their projects with leaders of businesses, NGOs and public administrations. Learn about the different roundtables and their hosts.

Participants will draw conclusions on how to contribute to social progress in their home countries. In a round-table format, leaders of outstanding initiatives will discuss their projects with conference participants and world-renowned experts.
